Quality Control Technician

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring adherence to Good Documentation and Production Practices (GDP and GPP) and Health Canada Regulations. The Quality Assurance & Quality Control Technician will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and compliance of our Cannabis products through rigorous testing, collaboration with production teams, and adherence to regulatory standards. The Quality Assurance & Quality Control Technician be responsible for conducting inspections, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and fostering a culture of quality throughout the organization.  Computer skills and previous experience in production/manufacturing along with Cannabis environment is a plus.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of our to deliver the portion of the daily schedule assigned to you by Supervisors.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, research and development, and regulatory affairs, to achieve quality objectives.
  • Conduct routine inspections and testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues during manufacturing processes.
  • Perform surface, equipment, and environmental swabbing to ensure the processes and equipment meet best practices as specified by the SOPs, GMP and Cannabis Regulations.
  • Perform visual inspections, measurements, and tests on samples according to established procedures.
  • Review and approve cleaning documentation, room activity and scale verification logs.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality control tests and inspections.
  • Approve the release of equipment and rooms.
  • Document and report any deviations from quality standards and assist in the investigation and resolution of issues
  • Provide recommendations for process optimization and contribute to the development of best practices
  • Perform and monitor in-process control points and take measures to eliminate deviations.
  • Perform sampling of raw cannabis, product labels and completed product.
  • Perform routine inspections of documentation to ensure Good Documentation Practices on all applicable documents.
  • Apply bulk packaging stickers and “Approved/Quarantine/Release” stickers.
  • Assist with other tasks required by the Senior Quality Manager or Quality Supervisor.
  • Prepare for and participate in regulatory compliance audits and inspections.
  • Work closely with regulatory affairs to address any findings and ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • 1 year of work experience in of experience in a quality control or laboratory setting within the cannabis, food, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control practices, standards, and regulations, including GPP and HACCP.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills and above-average attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills. Ability to manage time efficiently, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in conducting chemical and physical tests, analyzing data, and interpreting results.
  • Oriented towards quality work and service.
  • Capable of multitasking with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent English communication skills both written and verbal.

Job Details:

  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Pay: $22.00 per hour
  • Expected hours: 40 per week
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday
